Who was Billy Taylor?

The Billy Taylor is one of Guelph's most established and popular races. Both races begin and finish on the track at the University of Guelph. The 5k is flat and fast, with a 11 corners and a turnaround. The course of the 15k is downhill for the first 10k and then climbs up a long hill to the 12k mark. Come join us on April 27th at 10am

Awards:  $100, $75, $50 for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and $50 for 1sr Masters in the 15k only.  Merchandise awards for age groups and in the 5k. New,  Shoes for first place in the 5k, courtesy of the Running Works

Did we mention the hill at 12k?  You have run the Bay, so no sweat.

A Great Distance

15km is a great distance, rarely raced.  It falls inbetween the 10k and half marathon.  For most of us, it means that we are running at or just below our lactate threshold, just below the zone of great suffering.

The Billy Taylor is the best venue for sighting Olympians.  In past years we have had Olympians as participants and manning the water stations, and working at the finish line.

We have put up a Google Map with the course, parking, registration and most important, washroom location.

Locally known as the "P", this combination of roads are quiet, softer surfaced, with a scattering of hills, and are the epicentre of Speed River's road training.  Expect narrow farm roads, cedar lined in places, old barns, a small bridge over the Eramosa river.
